Physiotherapist – Rotational and Static

We are looking to recruit a band 5 Physiotherapist to work across Northamptonshire in a variety of settings. These posts are suitable for either a newly qualified physiotherapist who is embarking on their physiotherapy career or an experienced band 5 who wants to gain more versatile and well-rounded clinical experience and development. The rotations are 4 monthly in the South and 6 monthly in the north of the county and are structured around enhancing and providing not only the highest quality of physiotherapy care but developing our staff and supporting them to achieve their aspirations and potential.

Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust operates many different services across the county opening many development and progression opportunities and is committed to clinical excellence in everything it does.

Opportunities for rotations include:

  • Elderly Rehabilitation
  • Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation (with acute trust in-patient exchange option)
  • Paediatric experience in a specialised Children Treatment Unit

The elderly and neurological rehabilitation rotations are set in community hospitals and these placements can assist physiotherapists in building up basic respiratory skills whilst working on inpatient community wards.

Musculoskeletal Rotations are in outpatient’s departments based at sites across the county.

A sizeable proportion of our MSK caseload is orthopaedic referrals and there are close links with consultants and the chance to shadow Extended Scope Physiotherapists who also work in Orthopaedics, as well as opportunities to observe orthopaedic surgical procedures. The caseloads are varied and would include Spinal, Orthopaedic, Rheumatology, Chronic Pain, Peripheral, Mental Health and Paediatric patients therefore the experience on offer is rich and diverse. The trust has expanded these rotations further by working with other adjacent trusts on exchange opportunities.

The paediatric rotation also gives physiotherapists who may be considering pursuing this aspect of physiotherapy a solid foundation of clinical assessment and treatment of paediatric patients as well as having the opportunity to develop strong musculoskeletal skills which are essential for this area of the profession.

Each of our rotations include a detailed supervision and appraisal framework which will be delivered from senior physiotherapists and Extended Scope Physiotherapists who are embedded in our physiotherapy service and lead our teams clinically. We run a comprehensive in-service training programme with regular protected learning time and joint patient sessions to enhance professional development, quality and progression. We also have access to a variety of external courses with funding available and host a variety of internal courses. The trust is also committed to clinical leadership and therefore is focusing on developing front line’s staff leadership skills from the lower bands and upwards, bring more exciting and innovative opportunities to come.

We are very happy to offer an informal visit or further information over the phone regarding these posts, which are not to be missed and will provide a junior physiotherapist with a wealth of clinical experience, skills and knowledge which can be transferred to a variety of settings in physiotherapy and beyond.

As the rotations are across the county the ability to drive is essential.
