Locum Consultant Radiologists with an interest in Cross-sectional Imaging – all sub-specialities

Northampton General Hospital is a large DGH with over 700 beds. Along with a busy Emergency Department, we have all Medical and Surgical specialities as well as Womens’ and Paediatric services at NGH. We are also a centre for Oncology including Radiotherapy; Stroke including hyper-acute stroke; Nephrology; Cardiology and Vascular Surgery for the county of Northamptonshire and surrounding areas.

Following several recent successful appointments, we are looking for enthusiastic colleagues to join us in our expanding services even further. This is a great opportunity to join and influence future developments of an expanding department. We welcome applications from UK and abroad. We have a successful record of supporting non-UK trained radiologists with their CESR application.

We have a range of new posts to suit radiologists at any stage of their career. We are particularly interested in colleagues with the following sub-speciality interests – Musculoskeletal, Head and Neck, Paediatric and Thoracic imaging although we can accommodate all other sub-specialty interests as well.

We can offer further sub-speciality training locally or the opportunity to visit/work at other centres whilst working here. We will support your academic interests and you will have a generous study leave allowance and budget to match.

We have had major investment in our department and now have state of the art equipment on site. These include three new 128slice CT scanners; two MRI scanners; theatre specification interventional radiology suite and daybed area; Nuclear medicine unit with a fixed site PET-CT scanner; dedicated Breast unit with provision of breast MRI and one stop clinics etc. We also have plans to expand to an off-site centre.

You will have a great work-life balance with facilities for working from home. The on-call CT work is outsourced at night as are any extra scans above job planned work. There are opportunities to do extra in-sourced reporting and private work as well.

Northampton is a great place to live and is well connected by road, rail and air. We are only about 70 miles to central London (1hr by direct train) and 55 miles to Birmingham. Oxford, Cambridge and Leicester are all within easy reach by road.

We have great recreational facilities in the hospital including a gym with swimming pool. The county is renowned for a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities including the arts, theatre, parks, rugby, golf, football, sailing and motor racing amongst others.
